Shigar & Khaplu Heritage Tour

Shigar Fort and Khaplu Palace are among the best-preserved historic buildings in Gilgit-Baltistan, both restored and both still standing in the valleys that gave them their purpose. Between them lies some of the most cultivated, green country in Baltistan — apricot orchards, irrigation channels and old villages.

The tour is as much about the valleys as the buildings: this is where you see how people have actually lived at altitude here for centuries, rather than only the empty high ground.
